Kryvyi Rih Supermarket Director Investigated After 16 Die in Strike

Police in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast opened a criminal negligence case against a Kryvyi Rih supermarket director after the store allegedly stayed open during an air raid alert before Russia's Aug. 21 attack.
At least 20 minutes elapsed between the alert and the first drone impact, and Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi said many victims were found inside the supermarket.
The daytime strike on the shopping center killed at least 16 people and injured 130, including 23 children, before a second jet-powered Shahed-type drone hit in a double-tap attack.
Investigators are examining whether staff and visitors were warned, whether evacuation orders were issued in time, and whether reports of blocked shelter doors point to wider failures.
Search and rescue operations are still underway, with people missing, and the probe has widened to senior staff at the mall's owner and other tenant businesses in the front-line region.
