Summary
HBO Max has launched “Lanterns,” a new Green Lantern series starring 60-year-old Kyle Chandler as veteran Hal Jordan alongside Aaron Pierre as a younger recruit policing Earth.
Chandler and Pierre said the show’s core partnership was built through trust, improvisation and a collaborative set culture that let them make mistakes and discover their characters during a six-month shoot.
Chandler described Hal as an aging, darkened figure facing a rival he does not want to acknowledge, while crediting the writing and producers for giving the actors room to deepen that tension.
Pierre said that same creative freedom produced some of the series’ strongest moments and also links to his next DC role, with the actor set to play Green Lantern again in “Man of Tomorrow.”
The series marks Green Lantern’s return to screens 15 years after Ryan Reynolds’ film, reviving a comic-book hero whose origins date to the 1940s.
