Taiwan Indicts 9 Over 74 Illegal AI Server Exports to China

Nine people, including Nvidia Taiwan and Super Micro Taiwan employees, were indicted after prosecutors said they helped move high-end AI servers to Chinese customers in breach of export rules.
Prosecutors said the group used false end-user documents to show 130 Super Micro B300 servers would stay at a rented Taiwan facility, even though the shipments were meant for China.
Of those 130 servers, 74 were delivered to China through direct shipments and transshipments via Indonesia, Japan and Hong Kong, while customs blocked the remaining 56 before export to Japan.
Eight defendants face breach-of-trust and document-forgery charges, and a ninth was charged in a related case over alleged siphoning of funds from a distributor involved.
The case underscores Taiwan's tighter controls on advanced technology as U.S. restrictions since 2022 have barred exports of such Nvidia-chip systems to China without a license.
