Bodycam Shows 49ers Owner Jed York Arrested in Ohio Sting With Several $20 Bills

Q: What exactly was the seized criminal tool that led to the swift conviction of the 49ers' billionaire owner?

It has not been publicly established. Court records and local reporting say the arrest report did not identify the specific item behind the “possessing criminal tools” charge. The only seized items publicly mentioned were York’s cell phone, which a court order said was to be returned to him, and $160 in cash, which was forfeited to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force as part of the agreement. That means neither source clearly shows what object prosecutors treated as the criminal tool. Because police referred questions to the human trafficking task force and no fuller public explanation has surfaced in the available records, the exact “criminal tool” remains undisclosed. Based on the court order, the phone was seized during the case, but the record does not say it was the basis of the charge.

Two minutes and 44 seconds of body-camera video show 49ers owner Jed York being handcuffed in East Palestine, Ohio, after a prostitution sting and asking officers, “Can I ask what you’re doing?”
York told police he was just driving around town, but officers searching his wallet found several $20 bills and remarked on how easily they had arrested someone with his wealth.
York quickly pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools after the solicitation-related arrest at a trailer park.
Earlier reports said he arranged services for $160 online under the alias “Joe”; he was later sentenced to one day in jail and fined $1,285.
