A Google review posted after an Aug. 19 breakfast stop in Riccione showed a kitchen note reading, “burn the eggs and spit in them,” after a tourist asked for scrambled eggs to be cooked longer.
The group said they spotted the insult while viewing the order, refused the dish and demanded an explanation, turning a routine complaint over eggs into a social-media flashpoint.
The restaurant said the message was written by a 17-year-old waiter hired only weeks earlier, called the conduct contrary to company values and said it issued a formal reprimand.
Management also said it voided the bill and offered gifts, but the family disputed that account, saying they still paid for drinks already consumed and rejected any compensation.
The family further questioned whether the employee was really 17, suggesting the age detail was used to soften the seriousness of the incident.
