More than 70 Micone Staffing employees in Reno have been displaced by the Hawk Fire, and the company is covering hotels, food, clothing and other emergency needs.
School closures and business shutdowns are compounding the disruption, leaving some workers without childcare and others unable to reach jobs or collect paychecks.
Micone is also trying to place affected workers with clients so they can keep earning, while its Las Vegas team seeks donations for gas, water, food and school supplies.
More than 700 firefighters are battling the human-caused blaze, which has injured six people — including three first responders — and is expected to keep spreading through Wednesday in windy conditions.
The fire, which began Saturday, has threatened Reno, forced tens of thousands to evacuate, prompted a state of emergency in Nevada and canceled most Washoe County school classes.
