DHS said Melendez-Carranza, an El Salvadoran national, had a final removal order issued on July 18, 2024, after entering the U.S. illegally in 2016 and later being released on bond.
ICE lodged a detainer on Aug. 20, and Loudoun County authorities said he will be transferred to federal immigration custody after his local criminal case is resolved.
