German Investigators Find Third Drone With 50 Grams of Suspected Explosives Near Leipzig Airport

A third drone was found west of Leipzig/Halle Airport on Aug. 14, 10 days after the original security incident, with about 50 grams of suspected military explosive hexogen, German media reported.
The discovery deepens an investigation that began after an explosives-laden drone was found on Aug. 4 near a Ukrainian Antonov cargo plane used to transport military supplies.
Investigators also suspect a second drone may have collided with a DHL cargo aircraft shortly after the airport was temporarily shut down.
Security sources cited by NDR, WDR and Sueddeutsche Zeitung suspect Russian intelligence involvement, an accusation Moscow has denied.
Leipzig/Halle is one of Germany's key cargo airports and also serves as a military logistics hub, raising the stakes of the probe.
