Summary
Billings police said four juveniles and four adults were killed at 315 White Star Circle, with crews still working to recover remains from the home.
A 911 call reporting a shooting came in at 6:01 p.m. Sunday; officers arrived at 6:12 p.m., heard more gunfire from behind the house, and saw the residence fully engulfed in flames minutes later.
A significant number of investigators remain on scene, where fire damage and the home's structural condition are slowing a methodical examination expected to last several more days.
Mayor Mike Nelson said the community is heartbroken by the loss of life, especially children, while officials keep the investigation active and plan to release more details at a Wednesday media conference.
