Prosecution Psychologist Says Lindsay Clancy Is Criminally Responsible for Killing 3 Children

Dr. Kirk Heilbrun told jurors Tuesday that Lindsay Clancy remained aware killing her children was illegal and was criminally responsible for the Jan. 24, 2023 deaths.
Heilbrun said the killings took 18 to 20 minutes and involved ongoing decisions, undercutting Clancy's account that she was only obeying a voice.
Under cross-examination, defense lawyer Kevin Reddington pressed Heilbrun on evaluating Clancy three years later, his lack of writing on postpartum psychosis, and records from a Rhode Island postpartum program.
On re-direct, Heilbrun said Clancy never told doctors she had thoughts of harming her children and that even someone with command hallucinations can still know right from wrong.
Judge William Sullivan had already denied a mistrial request over Heilbrun's remarks about Clancy's Catholic faith; one more prosecution rebuttal witness is expected before possible closing arguments as early as Wednesday.
