New York Poll Shows 63% Oppose Home Heating Electrification as Energy Prices Top Voter Concerns

A new Empire Center statewide poll found 63% of New Yorkers oppose home-heating electrification, while 30% support it, making resistance to the policy the clearest finding highlighted by Assemblyman Scott Gray.
Utility costs ranked as voters' top energy concern, with Gray arguing households care more about monthly bills and reliability than Albany's climate mandates.
Among unaffiliated voters, opposition ran 66% to 25%, and Gray said resistance spans nearly every demographic group in a state where winter heating reliability is a practical concern.
Gray tied rising delivery costs to New York's Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, saying ratepayers are funding a buildout whose full cost has not been clearly presented.
