Chris Hansen was blocked from seeing *Primetime* because he refused to sign the prerelease legal paperwork A24 required for the private screening. He said his lawyers reviewed it and advised against signing, so he declined. As a result, he was not allowed into the screening. A24 and sources cited by Deadline, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter disputed Hansen’s characterization, saying the form was a standard nondisclosure agreement used for unreleased films to prevent spoilers and protect the studio’s intellectual property. According to those reports, all preview viewers are asked to sign such an NDA in advance, and Hansen was turned away because he would not do so. The dispute matters because *Primetime* is closely associated with Hansen’s public identity but is being presented as “inspired by true events,” not as a fully authorized biopic. Hansen has said he was neither paid nor consulted on the production and believes the trailer suggests a heavily dramatized version of events. He has also said he plans to see the film eventually, once he can do so without signing terms he considers unacceptable.
