Christian Gonzalez practiced Monday for the first time in two weeks, returning as a full participant after the injury he suffered at the end of an Aug. 10 session.
His return also eased one immediate concern for New England because extension talks are still active; Gonzalez carries cap hits of $4.8 million in 2026 and $18.1 million in 2027, while the top five cornerbacks make at least $30 million annually.
Mike Vrabel still would not guarantee Gonzalez’s Week 1 availability, saying he was focused only on the current day, while Eliot Wolf said Saturday the team would keep working with Gonzalez’s representatives.
