Flatpak installation and one-click database updates are central to the tool’s pitch, alongside logs, scan statistics and built-in EICAR test support to verify detection is working.
A test run across 412,695 files took more than an hour with little noticeable performance impact and surfaced one threat—an old EICAR sample file previously downloaded for testing.
ClamUI can quarantine, exclude or reveal the path of flagged files, but it still lacks scheduled scans, leaving users to configure cron jobs through the ClamAV CLI.
The tool is aimed less at proving Linux needs antivirus than at helping users check files before sharing them, especially with Windows users.
