Commercially, the move is hard to separate from Broadway economics. *Cursed Child* opened in 2018, has already been reformatted from a two-part event into a one-part show, and like many long-running productions faces pressure to keep sales strong over time. Tom Felton’s recent run offers concrete proof of what film-star casting can do: trade reports say his return boosted weekly grosses by more than $500,000 in one week, helped drive sellouts, and kept the show near the top of Broadway grosses. Producers also extended Felton multiple times, a sign that the strategy worked. That does not make the casting cynical. On Broadway, recognizable stars are increasingly used to offset high operating costs and keep large productions viable. In this case, Grint’s return appears less like a purely artistic gamble than a smart fusion of nostalgia, story logic and financial necessity. The role fits him, and the business case is obvious.
