Fans and residents gathered in Sevierville on Aug. 25 to mourn Dolly Parton, leaving flowers and taking photos at the hometown statue she once called one of her most treasured tributes.
The memorial quickly grew as flowers piled up at the statue’s base, and volunteers stepped in to rearrange them while a somber, reverent mood held through the afternoon.
Sevierville residents said Parton never forgot her roots, pointing to her help after the 2016 fires, her Imagination Library and fundraising for a local birthing center.
For many in Sevier County, the loss felt deeply personal as they remembered not just a national star, but a hometown figure whose generosity touched local families for years.
