Apple Launches Virginia Digital IDs in Wallet, Expanding to a 15th U.S. State

Virginia residents can now add a driver's license or state ID to Apple Wallet on iPhone and Apple Watch, making the state the 15th in the U.S. to support the feature.
The digital ID can be used for identity or age checks at TSA checkpoints, select businesses and some apps, with Apple saying TSA accepts Wallet IDs at more than 250 U.S. airports for domestic travel.
Users present the ID by tapping an iPhone or Apple Watch on a reader, then approve the specific data request with Face ID or Touch ID without unlocking or handing over the device.
Acceptance remains limited: many businesses still do not support Wallet IDs, and law enforcement generally does not accept them, so drivers must still carry a physical license.
Apple already offers the feature in Puerto Rico and with Japan's My Number Card, and has said North Carolina, Oklahoma and Utah are next in line.
