Relay Debuts AI Dictation Software, Prices Relay Q Microphone at $150

Relay launched a macOS voice-to-text app and said its portable Relay Q microphone will arrive in early 2027, pairing dedicated hardware with AI dictation aimed at office use.
Google Gemini powers the transcription and app-control “Skills,” which can draft Slack messages or create calendar events, though beta testing showed mixed reliability and weaker accuracy than Google’s latest Pixel dictation.
The Relay Q is designed for whisper-level input, with a push-to-talk button, clip-on option and charging dock; Relay says the hardware should cut activation lag and improve capture over built-in computer microphones.
Relay said the Q will cost $150 with one year of software included, then $15 a month, while the software can also be used without the microphone.
Privacy remains a trade-off: Relay says data is stored locally and not retained when routed through its servers to Google, but screen-access permissions are needed for automation features.
