Ahmed Ghedi received more than five years in prison and Abdihakim Ahmed got four and a half years for helping run a fraudulent Feeding Our Future child nutrition site in the Twin Cities.
Prosecutors said the pair collected $7.3 million in COVID relief funds by falsely claiming they were feeding thousands of children each day, then spent the money on a car, property and kickbacks.
The judge also ordered restitution of $2,862,451 from Ghedi and $2,242,590 from Ahmed, adding to penalties in the widening federal crackdown.
