Microsoft Adds Rubber Duck AI Agent to VS Code 1.135 as Sessions Sync Across Apps

VS Code 1.135, released Aug. 26, adds Rubber Duck—an experimental built-in AI critic that gives a second opinion on plans, code and tests using a different model from the primary agent.
That feature extends an AI mode first introduced in GitHub Copilot CLI in April, with Microsoft saying it helps catch missed details and edge cases during agent-driven development.
The update also lets developers resume recent Copilot or Claude agent sessions started in other applications, and connect multiple VS Code windows to the same agent session through the agent host.
UX changes round out the release: the Agents window gets a streamlined layout and simpler controls, while a redesigned chat footer shows per-model token usage, including input, cached input and output.
