An 18-month acceleration will put specialist rape and sexual offence teams in every police force in England and Wales by December 2027.
The faster rollout is part of a wider push against violence against women and girls that also includes £13.3 million for specialist Protection Order Teams and expanded intensive offender management.
NTIA said the move should be matched by stronger enforcement and closer work between police and hospitality and leisure businesses to improve women’s safety in the night-time economy.
Michael Kill said the industry must help create safer venues, act quickly on concerns and build confidence that reports of harassment and sexual assault will be taken seriously.
