Los Angeles Councilmember Nithya Raman was ridiculed online after presenting a newly painted Los Feliz crosswalk as a neighborhood infrastructure win in an X post with before-and-after photos.
Late 2025 complaints from the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council had prompted the request, and critics fixated on what they described as 8 to 9 months to paint seven yellow stripes over a cracked street.
Richard Grenell, Spencer Pratt, Ben Shapiro and Chris Rufo were among those mocking the post, arguing Raman had oversold a routine city service as a major accomplishment.
Raman's post thanked her field team for making streets safer, but it did not say what the project cost, when work began, which department handled it or whether any safety upgrades went beyond the markings.
The backlash lands as some Los Angeles residents voice frustration with the city's remaining mayoral candidates, with critics saying both options are unappealing.
