Five nights of pink lighting begin Wednesday on Portland’s Morrison Bridge, a tribute to Dolly Parton after the singer died Tuesday at age 80.
Nightlab, the Portland nonprofit that runs the bridge’s civic lighting program, said the display will continue nightly from Aug. 26 through Aug. 30 in what it called “Dolly-pink.”
Nashville, Milwaukee and New York’s Empire State Building are also honoring Parton, extending the memorial beyond Portland after her death following a brief battle with cancer.
Parton’s death has prompted nationwide landmark tributes, underscoring her reach as both a country music star and broader pop-culture icon.
