Q: Can a robot vacuum truly be hands-off if you still have to rescue it from a simple phone charger?

No. A robot vacuum can be largely hands-off, but not truly hands-free if it still regularly gets hung up on cords. The Roborock Qrevo 2 Pro automates much of the routine work that used to make robot vacuums high-maintenance. It maps quickly with LiDAR, cleans in orderly rows, vacuums and mops mixed floors, empties its own dustbin, washes and dries its mop pads, refills water, and can even remove and reinstall mop pads before and after carpet cleaning. At its launch price, that is unusually strong value for a midrange model. But the weak point matters because it affects day-to-day independence. Testing found that while the Qrevo 2 Pro generally avoided furniture and pets, it did not reliably dodge small clutter such as thin phone chargers and thicker cables. That means owners still need to do a quick floor check before each run. In practical terms, it is “low-maintenance,” not fully autonomous. That limitation is not unique to this model. Independent testing from outlets such as Vacuum Wars and guidance from Wirecutter show cord avoidance remains a common failure point across many robot vacuums, even expensive ones with cameras, structured light, IR, or ToF sensors. Some premium models now perform much better, including units that avoided nearly all test obstacles, but they usually cost far more. So the real standard is not whether a robot never needs help, but how often. The Qrevo 2 Pro reduces manual upkeep dramatically; it just does not eliminate pre-cleaning tidying.
