In the same way, the Notes upgrade can replace a basic markup app for drawing or annotating on images. But the feature set described so far is still narrow compared with dedicated third-party apps. There is no evidence here of advanced retouching, precision masking, batch editing, pro color tools, typography controls, export options, template libraries, or cross-project workflows that users get from established editing apps. Even coverage of the update frames AI Remix Collage mainly as a convenience tool for fast, on-device creativity rather than a full editing suite. That makes the strongest case for ColorOS 16 as a “good enough” replacement for light users, not a true substitute for enthusiasts or professionals. Its value is in reducing friction: no downloads, no subscriptions, no app switching, and editing that is built into the system. So the answer is mixed but clear: Oppo’s AI tools are practical and likely to displace some third-party apps for everyday tasks, while falling well short of replacing more capable specialist editors.

Oppo has begun rolling out its August ColorOS 16 update, adding AI Remix Collage, stronger security tools, new home-screen functions and upgraded Notes features to eligible phones.
AI Remix now includes Smart Cutout for sticker and layered collage creation, while Security and Phone Manager can block suspicious app activity, malicious pop-ups and battery-draining rogue apps with real-time alerts.
A pinch-out gesture now clears all notification badges, 2x2 and 4x2 Currency Converter widgets show real-time exchange rates, and Notes lets users draw, highlight and annotate directly on images.
Eligible models include the Find N5 and N6 foldables, the full Find X9 series, Find X8 and X8 Pro, plus the Reno5 and Reno6 series.
