A script dispute on her Reese Witherspoon-Will Ferrell film became her example: Morgan pushed back on a Southern mother cursing in front of her children, and director Nick Stoller let her change the lines.
The stance also shapes her Netflix series "Leanne," where she said she worked to avoid stereotyping Southern Christians while playing a mother rebuilding her life after her husband leaves.
Los Angeles filming left Morgan feeling a "darkness," she said, and she leaned heavily on Bible study, church and prayer while carrying pressure over the show's cost and the jobs tied to its success.
Morgan's comments come as her career expands rapidly after her 2023 Netflix special "I'm Every Woman" and her 2025 film debut in "You're Cordially Invited."
