Google Messages has started a stable rollout of Chat theme, replacing the older “Change colors” setting with per-conversation customization accessed from the three-dot menu.
Nine theme options are available, including Dynamic Color, while wallpapers can use user-uploaded images or Google collections such as Animals, Cityscapes, Space and Textures.
Google is also rolling out a bolder, color-themed voice message button, making the recorder shortcut stand out more than the previous waveform design.
The update lands alongside a wider pipeline of Messages changes, with some features already stable and others still in beta after Google’s long-running A/B testing approach.
