Alliance Highlights 331,000 U.S. Prostate Cancer Cases, Showcasing Trials on Detection and Treatment

Summary
331,000 U.S. men are expected to be diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2026 and about 36,000 to die, the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology said as it marked Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
About 1 in 8 U.S. men face a lifetime risk, while mortality has fallen by roughly half since 1993, a decline the group tied to clinical trials that improved screening, treatment and survivorship.
Current Alliance studies span rare and advanced disease, including phase II and III trials testing immunotherapy combinations, genomics-guided treatment, added docetaxel, and adjusted timing for Lutetium-177 PSMA radioligand therapy.
The research effort also reaches beyond tumor treatment, with telehealth exercise support, text-based smoking cessation for rural survivors, and blood-sample and genetic-access studies aimed at earlier detection and prevention.
More than 40,000 participants have joined Alliance studies, and its biospecimen repository now holds over 1.5 million samples collected across 30 years.
