Samsung Rolls Out One UI 9 Beta to Galaxy S25, S26 With Z Fold 8 Features

Q: Why did Samsung completely exclude the Galaxy S25 Edge from its massive Android 17 beta expansion?

Samsung did not “completely exclude” the Galaxy S25 Edge in any confirmed sense; Samsung simply left it out of the Sept. 1 beta announcement, and the company has not explained why. The most defensible reading is that this is a staged rollout decision, not proof that the S25 Edge has been dropped from One UI 9 altogether. Samsung officially named the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 FE, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7 for the Android 17 beta in India, South Korea, the UK, and the US, but omitted the Edge. Multiple reports say its status is “unclear,” with some suggesting it could receive the stable build directly instead of joining the public beta. That fits Samsung’s broader software pattern. The company is prioritizing a narrow set of flagship and foldable models in early testing while stable One UI 9 is already shipping on the newer Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8. Samsung has also been selective by market, limiting the beta to four countries through the Samsung Members app. There is no hard evidence in the available reporting that the S25 Edge was excluded because of a hardware problem or cancellation of support. In fact, other recent reports and update trackers have treated the S25 Edge as eligible for One UI 9 in general, even if not publicly included in this beta wave. So the short answer is that Samsung has not given a reason, and the omission currently looks more like an unconfirmed rollout choice than a permanent exclusion.
