Jake Auchincloss advanced Tuesday in Massachusetts’ 4th District Democratic primary, beating back his first intraparty challenge since winning the seat in 2020.
Jason Poulos centered his campaign on ending U.S. military aid to Israel, attacking Auchincloss over past support for aid and his AIPAC backing while running on Medicare-for-all, universal basic income and stronger unions.
Auchincloss has tried to straddle that divide: he is endorsed by AIPAC, but in July joined more than 100 House Democrats to vote for eliminating $3.3 billion in U.S. military financing for Israel while backing the broader U.S.-Israel alliance.
The race unfolded as Democratic tensions over Israel sharpened nationally, with 103 House Democrats recently voting to block aid and Sen. John Fetterman warning an official anti-Israel party stance would be his 'red line.'
