That lighter design comes with trade-offs: the base configuration falls to an Intel Core 5 320, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD, while NPU performance drops to 16 TOPS from 46 TOPS.
Dell also removes Thunderbolt 4 and scales wireless back to Wi-Fi 6 or 6E, though buyers still get a 14-inch 16:10 display with either 2K 60Hz or 2.8K 120Hz options.
A 61.2Wh battery replaces the prior 70Wh pack, but Dell says a higher-density cell can deliver up to 21 hours of Netflix streaming and better long-term capacity retention.
Pricing remains undisclosed until later this fall, but Dell says the 14S will be a more accessible companion to the $699 XPS 13 rather than a direct rival.
