Huawei Launches Mate XT 2 With U-Fold Design and 6,000mAh Battery

September 7 is the launch date for Huawei’s Mate XT 2, which replaces the original tri-fold’s Z-shaped layout with a U-shaped inward fold that keeps all three display panels protected when closed.
Kirin 9050 Pro powers the device with LogicFolding 3D stacking, lifting transistor density 53.5% to about 238 million per square millimeter as Huawei works around U.S. sanctions that limit access to leading-edge chip nodes.
A 6,000mAh silicon-anode battery marks a 400mAh increase from the first Mate XT, while HarmonyOS 7 is set to debut alongside the phone to improve scaling across its roughly 6.4-inch, 7.9-inch and 10.2-inch modes.
Pricing is expected around 20,000 yuan, or $2,800, placing the Mate XT 2 firmly in the luxury segment with global reach still constrained by the lack of Google services.
Samsung’s tri-fold rival is not due until later this year, giving Huawei a head start in second-generation tri-fold phones after the first Mate XT sold out quickly in China but drew criticism over its exposed outer screen.
