Pinellas Deputies Arrest 'Crooked Jess' Over $60 Undercover Drug Theft

Jessica Straubel Sanchez, 41, was arrested Saturday in Pinellas County after deputies said she took $60 from an undercover officer during a March crack-buy operation and never returned.
An arrest affidavit says Sanchez—known as "Crooked Jess"—was supposed to buy crack cocaine, walked to a residence's backyard, and was gone for more than an hour before deputies concluded she intended to keep the money.
The case brought theft charges tied to the failed undercover buy, and deputies also charged her with possession of drug paraphernalia after allegedly finding foil with fentanyl residue hidden in her undergarments.
The arrest closed a months-long gap after officers initially searched the area but could not find Sanchez or contact her because, the affidavit said, she did not own a phone.
