The push comes despite scant evidence of widespread noncitizen voting: the Heritage Foundation database lists about 100 cases over 25 years, while roughly 400 noncitizens voted in New Jersey after a software glitch.
Trump has repeatedly claimed since his 2020 loss that election fraud is pervasive and this year has cast noncitizen voting as an election-security crisis, though those claims remain unsubstantiated.
