U.S. Keeps Oman at Level 3, Allows Families as Iran Attack Risk Persists

Aug. 30's update kept Oman under a Level 3 "Reconsider Travel" advisory, while newly allowing family members to join U.S. government employees stationed there.
The State Department said the advisory still reflects risks from armed conflict, terrorism and ongoing Iranian drone and missile attacks after U.S.-Iran hostilities began on Feb. 28.
Americans were told not to travel near the Yemen border and to stay alert at tourist sites, transport hubs, markets, malls, entertainment venues and government facilities, where attacks could come with little warning.
Oman drew nearly 4 million visitors in 2025, underscoring the warning's reach as the State Department also recently refreshed travel guidance for Brazil and Ecuador.
