It is most likely a design tradeoff, not an oversight. ASUS is trying to fit NVIDIA’s RTX Spark platform, a 90 Wh battery, three USB4 ports, OLED thermals, and up to 128 GB of soldered unified LPDDR5X memory into a 14-inch chassis that is only 13.9 mm thick and 1.48 kg. In a machine this slim, motherboard space, cooling headroom, and battery volume are all under heavy pressure, and a second M.2 slot is one of the easier features to cut. The RTX Spark architecture also changes ASUS’s priorities. This laptop is being sold on its unusually large shared memory pool for local AI, 12K editing, and large 3D scenes, where memory capacity matters more than raw SSD expandability. ASUS appears to be betting that buyers will value 64 GB or 128 GB of unified memory over dual-drive internal storage. There are practical compromises behind that choice. ASUS lists only one M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 slot, and its own support notes say the area near the M.2 slot uses dense surface-mounted components, with support limited to single-sided SSDs. That strongly suggests board-layout constraints. PCIe 5.0 is absent as well, likely to reduce heat and power draw. For users, the downside is obvious: AI models, video assets, and project files can consume terabytes quickly, so a 512 GB or 1 TB default drive looks tight. ASUS is effectively assuming creators will either replace the SSD with a larger single drive or rely on fast external USB4 storage and SD-based workflows.

ASUS has officially launched the ProArt P14 creator laptop, a 14-inch model built around NVIDIA's new RTX Spark Arm SoC, though the company has not disclosed pricing.
The H7407BA comes with up to 128GB of LPDDR5X unified memory, 1TB of PCIe 4.0 storage, a 90Wh battery and a 140W USB-C charger in a 13.9 mm, 1.48 kg chassis.
Two 2880 x 1800 OLED touch display options are offered, both at 120Hz with 100% DCI-P3 coverage and stylus support; the brighter panel reaches 700 nits SDR and 1,600 nits HDR.
Connectivity follows NVIDIA's July reference design, with three USB4 Gen 3 Type-C ports, HDMI 2.1, an SD 4.0 card reader, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
The launch gives one of the clearest commercial looks yet at RTX Spark hardware aimed at photographers and video editors, but battery-life claims remain vague at 'all-day.'
