Probably not immediately, but the Jets are clearly willing to consider it if their kicking problem worsens. The strongest evidence is what happened Wednesday: New York brought Tucker in only as part of a three-man workout with Michael Badgley and Joshua Karty, and no signing followed. The Jets also just claimed Blake Grupe and kept Jason Sanders on the practice squad, which suggests they are surveying options rather than rushing to hand Tucker the job. Tucker’s case is unusually complicated. He remains one of the most accomplished kickers in NFL history, with an 89.1% career field-goal rate and multiple All-Pro honors, so teams will keep doing due diligence. But he has not played since 2024, served a 10-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, and was released by Baltimore after 16 massage therapists accused him of sexual misconduct. He has denied wrongdoing, and he has not been criminally charged or sued civilly. Still, the NFL suspension and the Ravens’ decision to move on are major signals for any club weighing reputational risk. The football case is also less compelling than it once was. Tucker turns 37 in November and is coming off a career-worst 73.3% season. The Saints and Colts also worked him out and passed. So the Jets are not ignoring the allegations, but they are not fully closing the door either. Right now, the workout looks more like contingency planning than a sign they are prepared to overlook everything and sign him.
