Summary
Shenzhen’s Longgang District and Beijing’s Tongzhou District opened new AI-support funding, offering subsidies for computing purchases and vouchers for model and computing services to local companies.
Longgang’s 2026 program gives firms buying non-affiliated computing capacity up to CNY 20 million a year across five tiers, covering large-model training, inference and generative AI applications.
Tongzhou’s guide, launched on Sept. 3, offers SMEs up to CNY 500,000 a year in AI model and computing vouchers, with applications open through Oct. 8.
Tongzhou also funds AI, cloud, metaverse, big data, 6G and cybersecurity demonstration projects at up to CNY 500,000 each, with total annual support capped at CNY 2 million per company.
The separate district programs show Chinese local governments shifting support beyond hardware buildout toward subsidizing actual AI-computing demand and digital application development.
