ChatGPT Drops Trump’s 9/10 Threat Rating After Fox News Inquiry

OpenAI’s chatbot stopped assigning Donald Trump a numeric democracy-threat score after Fox News Digital asked about a Media Research Center study that had captured ChatGPT rating him 9 out of 10.
That earlier response tied the score to Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election, pressure on officials and the Jan. 6 attack, and placed him alongside leaders including Vladimir Putin, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Nicolás Maduro.
By the next morning, ChatGPT said it “can’t assign a numeric rating to a U.S. political figure” but still described Trump as a serious threat to democratic norms and institutional checks.
OpenAI said the responses were not how ChatGPT is intended to work and should not happen consistently across models, while MRC argued the episode shows anti-Trump bias in how AI systems are built and trained.
