Samsung’s first firmware release for the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 enables seamless updates, letting new software install in the background while the watch remains usable.
The roughly 200MB rollout also carries the August 2026 security patch, with the update held ready until reboot so the final restart takes much less time than before.
That capability ships with One UI 9 Watch and depends on storage partition support built in from launch, making it unlikely to reach older Galaxy Watches through the upcoming update.
The feature extends to Samsung’s latest wearables an update method it introduced on Galaxy smartphones a few years ago, alongside broader performance, comfort and interface changes.
