Summary
GPT-6 Astra is now generally available to all Microsoft Foundry customers, giving enterprises access to OpenAI’s newest model for multi-step decision support and cross-application task execution.
Microsoft positioned the release as a shift beyond chatbots: Astra can plan work, produce review-ready documents and analyses, and use tools or computer controls across software systems with human oversight.
Foundry wraps the model with enterprise controls including Entra identity, private networking, role-based access, monitoring, governance, and a pledge that prompts and outputs are not used to train the models.
$10 per million input tokens is the starting Global Standard price for short-context use, rising to $20 for long context; U.S. Data Zone pricing starts at $11, while provisioned throughput carries separate rates.
Microsoft said the offering targets production use cases such as software debugging, Power BI dashboard creation, customer-record updates, form processing, and website testing as companies scale agentic AI.
