The May 2025 operation began on Jack'd, where agents said Sprinkle contacted an undercover officer posing as the boy's father, sent a video of a minor being abused, and discussed traveling to Washington to assault the fictitious child.
A search of his Richmond home later found dozens of files depicting the sexual abuse of toddlers and infants, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Sprinkle had held prominent Virginia Democratic roles, including finance chairman of the Democratic Party of Virginia and a 2024 Democratic National Convention delegate; the Metro Richmond Area Young Democrats said after his 2025 indictment that it cut all ties.
Rep. Abigail Spanberger's team had earlier thanked the FBI and donated Sprinkle's $1,000 in prior campaign contributions to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
