LSU’s edge, Klatt said, starts with defense: coordinator Blake Baker returns, transfer end Princewill Umanmielen joins the front, and linebacker Whit Weeks anchors a unit he expects to control Clemson.
Ole Miss gets the nod because Klatt sees quarterback Trinidad Chambliss as a matchup problem for Louisville’s new co-coordinators, even if the opener turns sloppy at times.
Oregon, in Klatt’s view, is further along under Dan Lanning, with quarterback Dante Moore, a disruptive defensive line and Boise State replacing four of five defensive backs despite questions at offensive coordinator.
