Summary
AnTuTu’s V12 public beta is rolling out via its website and major app stores, replacing score-chasing with revised smartphone tests meant to better mirror real-world use.
Four areas—CPU, GPU, Memory and UX—have been overhauled, with CPU tests tuned for everyday performance and efficiency, tougher graphics scenes, and a new Vulkan-based Cooperative Matrix workload.
Memory testing now adds dynamic latency and fragmentation checks, while refined read/write and app-level I/O tests aim to reduce outside influences on results.
Scores from V12 cannot be directly compared with earlier versions because both test items and scoring methods changed; AnTuTu’s sample results were recorded at about 26°C, above 80% battery and 300 nits.
The beta also redesigns the app with a card-based interface, adds layouts for tablets and foldables, and supports Android 16K page sizes for newer devices.
Will AnTuTu’s shift to sustained real-world testing finally stop smartphone manufacturers from rigging their devices for artificially high benchmark scores?
Could the new focus on memory latency and throttling allow well-optimized budget phones to dethrone poorly managed flagships in benchmark rankings?
If modern benchmarks prioritize sustained stability over peak raw power, will consumers still care about chasing the highest score?
