Ten Ukrainian news organizations will receive hands-on support through the Newsroom AI Catalyst, which launches Sept. 17 after the broader masterclass series began on Aug. 5.
OpenAI, WAN-IFRA and AIRPPU said the initiative is designed to help independent publishers use AI to improve sustainability, efficiency and resilience during Ukraine’s continued conflict and unrest.
The program combines newsroom and business-transformation tracks, covering editorial workflows, audience engagement, product development, revenue generation and responsible AI adoption.
Participating organizations will also get OpenAI API credits to build bespoke tools, extending WAN-IFRA and OpenAI’s wider push to expand AI adoption across news organizations globally.
