Ben Carson argued the "woke machine" has only paused, not disappeared, and could return in a stronger form if political power shifts after the 2026 midterms.
Trump's 2024 victory, he said, forced companies to temporarily adjust their public posture, with some tech leaders appearing at the inauguration and one executive later admitting mistakes.
Carson said the deeper problem remains inside large institutions — from corporate boards to HR departments and tech platforms — where concentrated private power can police speech, banking and market access.
He tied that warning to policies enacted after the administration change, including ending race-based federal preferences and stopping federal funding for irreversible medical procedures on minors.
The midterms, Carson said, are the last major democratic check on any revival of that system, which he argues could again fuse political pressure with corporate power.
