Putin Reaffirms 2026 Donetsk Goal to US Envoys as Russia Rejects Ukraine Peace Compromises

Zelensky met the same US delegation in Kyiv on Sept. 6 and said they discussed security guarantees, economic support and territorial issues, with Ukrainian-European-US talks planned soon and winter aid likely needed as fighting continues.
The diplomacy unfolded under fire: Russian strikes near Kyiv forced the US team to travel by train despite a three-day halt on long-range strikes around Kyiv and Moscow meant to facilitate the shuttle talks.
