1080p tests on two RTX 5060 Ti 16GB cards showed big recoveries versus running DLSS 5 on the render GPU: Quality rose to 91 fps from 54-55, Performance to 106-107 from 59, and Ultra Performance to 157 from 69-71.
Guibout said the key result is efficiency, not raw frame rates: moving neural rendering to the second card preserved 86% of available scaling, while the render card alone kept about a third, and the main GPU ran 21 degrees cooler.
The setup still needs a second display and doubles display latency, making it more a technical workaround for enthusiasts than Nvidia’s intended DLSS 5 implementation.
A second demo on a Ryzen 5 5600 DDR4 system suggested the approach does not require top-end hardware, though dual-GPU cost and complexity remain the main constraint.
