Tuesday’s Venice lineup centers on Alex Gibney’s 225-minute “Musk,” a nearly four-hour documentary probing Elon Musk’s power and influence, alongside Florian Zeller’s Penélope Cruz-Javier Bardem thriller “Bunker.”
Gibney said he began as an admirer and hoped to interview Musk, but after Musk declined, his reporting led him to challenge what he called the myth of Musk as a modern Leonardo da Vinci.
“Bunker” follows an architect who agrees to build a billionaire’s survivalist shelter, a choice that strains his marriage; Zeller said the film explores fear of the future, ecological threats and inequality through a couple’s conflict.
Casey Affleck also debuts “Company,” a 1975-set drama about grief, compassion and moral reckoning, with both it and “Bunker” competing for the Golden Lion before winners are announced Saturday.
