Ukraine Unveils 450-Kg Koral Missile Launcher Built to Intercept Ballistic Targets

MSPO 2026 in Poland marked the first public showing of Ukraine’s Koral surface-to-air missile launcher, mounted on a Czech-made Tatra self-propelled chassis.
The 450-kilogram missile carries a 36-kilogram warhead and uses inertial navigation, radio-command correction and active radar homing to engage aerodynamic and ballistic targets.
Militarnyi said the interceptor could also strike radar-visible land or sea targets in exceptional cases, though its current maximum range has not been disclosed.
The 2026 configuration is a major redesign from the earlier Koral concept: weight rose from about 300 kilograms, the warhead from 25 kilograms, and the missile grew longer.
Development began in 2016 as a prospective naval SAM project, and Koral was later presented as part of Ukraine’s broader push for a domestically built layered air-defense family.
